How scripting errors show up in Studio and playtest.
Format
Errors include the Script or LocalScript name, a line number, and the message:
[Script Error] Killbrick (line 12): attempt to index nil with 'Kill'
Prints from print and warn include the same script label when possible:
[Killbrick] checkpoint saved
Where they appear
| Context | Where |
|---|---|
| Studio playtest | Output panel |
| Live server Scripts | Server log as [Lua] / [Script Error] |
| LocalScripts | Client log / Studio output for that client |
Clicking an error line in Studio Output selects the Script and jumps near that line when the source is available.
Tips
- Prefer
task.spawnfor background work so one error does not stop your whole Script. - Uncaught errors in an Event listener are reported with the Script name and disconnect only that failing resume when possible. Other listeners keep running.
warn("message")logs a non-fatal warning with the same labeling.
